The movie theme beautifully moves away from the title of reservation to discover the root of corruption. What is the root of corruption in India, if one were to point out a single reason than it is to be pointed at the burgeoning industry of education. From coaching classes to capitation fees with urge to study abroad, all parents are burdened with increased cost of education. Ultimately if you ask any single reason to be corrupt, an individual would say that he did it for his children’s education.

The movie begins with the principal Dr Anand ( Amitabh Bachchan ) being very helpful to all strata of society. He rejects the idea of giving seat to an influential ministers son in front of the committee. This naturally infuriates the minister concerned who with the help of the committee members wants to plug the powers of principal with appointment of vice principal in the form of Mitlesh Singh ( Manoj Bajpai ) who acts as a villian.

Deepak Kumar ( Saif Ali Khan ) acts as a dalit student who is under the umbrella of Prof Anand, when he fails to get selected because of his caste. The interview panel makes fun of his background, questioning his capacity to groom youngsters. He is recruited as Asst. Prof in the institute by Dr Anand and he is in love with Prof daughter Poorvi ( Deepika Padukone ) How they move apart because of the bitter battle of reservation policy adopted by the govt and than realise their folly is the basic storyline of the movie.

Mandal commission was a political means to identify the backward classes and their need to be uplifted in the society. The commission came out with a finding that 54% of the populace were belonging to backward classes and therefore recommended a reservation varying between 27 to 49%. This obviously triggered off massive protests, since other religious minority too got into the fray. It would have lead to a reservation amounting to 75% if one includes reservation for other religious sects such as Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhist etc.

The actual reality is that the entire issue of reservation took a twist into mushrooming of education institutions, and karnataka was first off the block. It lead to massive infusion or boom of medical colleges and engineering colleges in the guise of protecting the minority. Imagine a parent shelling out close to 30 lakhs for a basic MBBS degree and more than a crore for an MD. What will such a doctor do when he passes out, how is he going to recover his dads investment is for anybody to guess.

The movie is path breaking in the sense, that it has moved away from the controversy of reservation silently and attacked the root of corruption in education in the form of coaching classes and capitation fee. Just watch the anti climax, which is purported to be the solution for this malady. But the actual remedy is in the minds of the parents and students. The ethical question remains whether the parent would like to pamper his children with education beyond his means.

Titbits : I knew a parent who would go to the extent of buying a question paper for his daughter so that she passes out with flying colours. My dad used to say don t worry son, perfect your medical education, it does not matter that you fail in your exams now, i am there to sponsor your studies. Be perfect and don t end killing the patients in future. Lolz We hated tutions in those days, it was sort of punishment for dull students. We got rid of tution as soon as possible, but attending coaching has become a trend or hep nowerdays. I hope the Jan Lokpal activists keep this in mind to root out corruption, otherwise it would be futile effort to fight corruption unless one attacks the root of corruption.

The movie is a real face saver for the image of Goan Police. I hope the movie’s message is taken in the right spirit by the Goan authorities and start setting their state as crime free state.

Goa is a goner for me personally when we experienced personally the mugging in Jan 2002, our case is still pending resolution in the Margoa police station. Mr Shirodkar, the PSI, wanted to close the case he sent his team to request for closure in Mumbai, we said continue investigation.

Now coming to the movie review Bhaji Rao Singham is posted on punishment to Colva police station, which is the adda of the gangster Prakash Raj. The entire police machinery has become victim and succumbed to the underworld and politicians. The villian carries out series of extortions, murder, property buying, etc in his stronghold. None dares to challenge him in his own den, how Singham is forced into the whirlpool to fight against the villan and take the battle into the enemies camp is the crux of the film storyline.

There is nothing much in the sound track, it is all passe. The heroine adds cosmetic value to the film, otherwise it would have ended up with gory violence only. She is bold enough to admit her admiration for Singham. He reluctantly agrees that he too is in love with her. Her father is against the alliance, how he eventually agrees to the alliance, for this one has to see the movie.

If one is expecting too much of a action or violence, the director Rohit Shetty has kept the dosage to the appropriate level. Ajay devgan with his six pack body has played his role to the best of his ability. If it were not a dubbed movie, than Ajay Devgan could have been in running for a national award with this stellar role.

I only hope Goan Police lives up to the image potrayed in the movie Singham. If the valuables looted from us is retrieved after a decade, it would be a face saver. Lolz

The story revolves around ARJUN ( Hrithik ) KABIR ( Abhay Deol ) and IMRAN ( Farhan Aktar ) who take their time off from their hectic life after a gap of four years. They would like to celeberate the final bachelorhood days of KABIR who is engaged to be married shortly to his fiancee Natasha. They take off on a holiday to spain and here they come across LAILA ( katrina Kaifa ) who is a scuba diver instructor. How the story takes a twist and turn from hereon with lot of pranks is the essence of the movie.

Some claim that basically the film is about a road trip is slightly a misnomer and will do great deal of injustice to the story line of the movie. The song at the Tomatino festival is well picturised bringing out the essence of the celebration. One is bound to forget all their tension as one witnesses the antics of the Tomatoes squeezed, sliced and trampled. The movie chugs along in certain scene with emotion being bought out in form of fear and fixation. Sigmund freud type of phyco-analysis is conducted by friends to discover their hidden anxiety. Arjuns fixation on earning plenty of money, Kabir’s fear of being possessed by his fiancée, Imran’s fixation for discovering his dad.

The smooch of Katrina and Hrithik has been shot without vulgarity in outdoor, and it flows along with the storyline. The pranks of Imran and Kabir keeps the movie ticking and gets them into trouble once. Arjun reluctantly joins the party and realises that life has to be lived once, he follows the advice of Laila.

The movie is inspired by Hangover 2 to a certain extent without the expletives. The final climax in the bull ring is worth watching. The real spirit of bulls rushing into the cauldron with the matadors racing ahead trying to escape being hurt is pulse racing. Overall the movie is a roller coaster ride, just be seated and enjoy the movie, because life is meant to be enjoyed the fullest once in a lifetime. Go see Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara for a fulltoo entertainment.

A new villian emerges in Murder 2, which is no comparison to the original. But at the same time the story and narration of the movie is gripping. Dhiraj yadav is a psychopath killer who has already murdered 4 girls and is about to carry on his killing spree, when Arjun ( Emran Hashmi ) an ex cop is hired to trace the whereabouts of the girls who are missing, off the record.

The movie is shot in Goa, in the backdrop of Christmas, Churches and Cops. Priya is a model who is madly in love with Arjun, who needles her, but does not want to accept her as a life partner. There is only one short raunchy scene in the movie, for those who crave for the Murder 1 type of scenes will be disappointed to watch this sequel.

Hype about graduating to adulthood vide Murder 2 is all crap and fulltoo publicity stunt. Maybe some scenes are censored. The songs are not much to crave or croon about, when compared to the previous edition. It is a let down.

What i liked about the movie it is a total package and more of a study on the mindset of the psychopath killer. Why does he hate women, and under what circumstances he gets to hate them, how gruesome the characterisation can be in the form of execution of murder etc. The movie moves on the steam of scripting, dialouges and locale.

The movie is well blended into the Goan murder scenario which was prevalent some time ago, however the rape angle is removed so that the negative publicity might not affect the destination. I am surprised that the drug angle is ignored. Maybe murder 3 sequel will carry this concept Lolz.

Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt did a wise thing by not following a beaten path of releasing a sequel earlier, they waited almost 6 years to come out with this one. Cut the crap of romancing and get into story telling seems to be motto of this genre of movie. I am sure they will dish out a better sequel next time around in 2015 AD. Watch Murder 2, if you want to have peep into psychopaths mindset or otherwise forget it if you expect the same titillation like in the earlier version.

The movie reminded me of Hangover 2, which i saw last month. It had a rib tickling action, comedy and use of plenty of slang expletives. The movie Delhi Belly is a slick adult comedy movie with A certification.

The story revolves around the hero Tashi ( Imran Khan ) Arup ( Vir Das ) Nithin ( Kunal roy ) who stay in a common room at Delhi’s Chandni chowk area. Tashi and Arup work for a press covering various events in the city as writer and photographer duo. The movie gets its funny title from an upset stomach, which generally happens to foreigners when they visit India. I remember an OZ cricketer Michael Clark was down with Delhi Belly. It was suspected that he had plenty of prawns and he suffered the fate of Delhi Belly. Similarly Arup consumes locally fried tandoori chicken in a kadai smothered with cooks sweat glands of under the belly. Arup is constantly butt of joke throughout the film, with water scarcity, how did he manage to clean his bum is a moot question, for this guys you have got to watch the movie for hilarious scenes and various shades of belly tickling sounds.

The novelty of this lollipop of a movie is that it does not have an interval, and for the director has come out with a cracker of a package involving crime, comedy and dialouges filled with sexy undertones. The heroine Shenaz Treasurywala has a very minor role to play adds cosmetic value to the film with her presence. The raunchy bedroom scene is well picturised with the hero.
Some of the action scenes are well shot in the crowded streets of Delhi. The car chase, the chawl type building partial collapse, and scenes at the jewellry shop is well picturised.

The villans role is enacted with aplomb by Vijay Raaz, one scene where he is supposed to receive diamonds wrapped in an wooden doll is really humourous. Tashi’s colleague Menaka ( Poorna Jaganathan ) too adds to the comic touch in the movie. The interview scene where trio interview an upcoming album singer for number I hate you like i Love you is capricious to the core.

Finally the producer Amir Khan comes out a Item number spoofing Yester years heroes Rishi Kapoor, Jitendra and Govinda with his climatic song I hate you I love you. the movie is certified as an adult movie because of liberal usage of the words F n B’s in the dialouges. It is meant for those who would like to mingle with the present generation, i imagine this situation to be prevalent in most boys hostel of the current generation. Go watch Delhi Belly if you love to have 90 minutes of unfrettered comic caper. Delhi belly is another hit from UTV along with collaboration with Amir Khan’s production house.

This has caused heartburn for producers of Kannada movie, such as Nannu Nanna Kanasu, Nuraro Janamaku, etc. I missed the first FDFS and thought that i would get to see matinee show at least. This fiasco could have been avoided by the distributors of KITE by having a healthy dialogue with the association. Unfortunately this agitation would open a pandora’s box in future releases. I only hope we get to see the movie tomorrow with some resolution, luckily we were given refund of the ticket money.

After three days i got to see the movie with high expectation because the opener of the movie was well drawn up which I saw on the first day. I liked the opener sequence wherein J ( Hrithik Roshan ) does all types of odd jobs including marrying for sake of Green card status to migrants and making a fast buck on this account. But here the director faulters with the same costume he marries as many as 11 female and the 11th one gets to his skin by defualt and she happens to be a Mexican Natasha aka Linda ( Barbara Mori ). The deal is stuck for 1000 dollars with Linda falling short of 42 $ which happens to be brokers commission, who happens to be friend of J.

J forgets Linda, but fate has other plans on the hindsight. J starts teaching a hip hop salsa which is frequented by Gina ( Kangana Raut ) She falls in love head and shoulders with J. J does not mind loving the smell of money and being rich and famous in the shadows of his father in law ( kabir Bedi ) The story takes a twist with a punter being killed for cheating the casino owner. J does not like shady character of his would be father in law and bill.

The communication gap between J and Linda is well picturised. Spanish language is translated into English sub titles which makes it easy for the audience to follow. The movie was much hyped for the chemistry between Barbara and Hrithik. Forget chemistry and physics, this seems to be only ruse to attract the audience to the theatre.

Las Vegas location and Mexican border where the shooting of the film has taken place is a huge plus. The movie seems to have been heavily edited by the producer for avoiding controversy. The stunts have been well picturised with foreign stunt co-ordinators obviously. The movie ending seems to be disappointing for most of the audience who had to walk away with a heavy heart from the theatre. I strongly felt that the ending could have been modified which would have made film more palatable.

The quality of production, location, and background music is a big plus. The disappointment was in the form of lack of dance number between J and Linda. Kangana Raut dance was zazzy but she had a short role and pulled it off well. Overall Kite has the look of hollywood movie which did not go well with domestic audience. I being lover of hollywood movie loved every minute of it. The movie had scope for plenty of romantic scenes which seems to have been censored to suit the Universal audience otherwise the movie would have received A certificate.

The storyline is spread across Macau, U.K and Italy. Arush ( Akshay Kumar ) is deemed to be most unluckiest person and is employed in an casino, where the his employer uses him to ensure that his customer loose their winning streak. Kishore Samtani ( Randhir Kapoor ) is the owner of a plush pub with a disco floor where Hetal is working as a waitress and Bob as bartender. The movie is a tell tale historical recollection of textile mills which was once the lifeline of Mumbai working class. In a way there is a semblence of biographical reference to Datta Samant who was rebel leader by large without political affliation to any mainstream party. He was called as the Doctor by many of his comrades. How the textile mill strike in 1982 crippled the workers and gave way to greed of mill owners to encash on the prime real estate instead of bothering to run the industry providing employment and livelihood to millions.

The plot of the film revolves around Anna who is the head of the Dhuri family. He opts for voluntary retirement with the hope that all his dues will be settled by the mill owners, but alas his gratuity amount is not settled by the management. He struggles to meet the ends of the family with only one of the three sons Mohan ( Vineet Kumar ) working in pvt co operative bank, he is carried away by cricket and its nuances so much so that he is addicted to the transister forever, another son Baba ( Ankush Chowdhry ) is a struggling writer with a hope that one day his story would be recognised and he would make it big in the field of theatre. Naru is the third son who is bought up with carefree attitude, he enters into the local chawl dadagiri for sake of protecting his friends and family from persecution. How he branches out into the shady underworld of supari killer, which he regrets in midst of the storyline is very well picturised.

Strong matriach role is played by Seema Biswas as AAI of the family, she undergoes the struggle of a homemaker remarkably well. Manju plays the role of a daughter who witnesses the family struggling to meet their end. How she battles her own destiny is the very interesting to watch and enjoy. This movie is a definite watch for a family to indirectly impart sex education to their grown up children. There is interesting story too weaved around Kashmira shah and Satish Kaushik. This subject is so very well weaved into the plot, hats off to the original writer who was an ex mill worker turned journalist who conceived the play Adhantar.

This movie of Mahesh Manjrekar is inspired from the play Adhantar and Jayant wrote the screenplay and it took them 3 solid years to find a producer for the movie itself speaks of the triumph of all the souls who were betrayed and buried in the hope of settlement from the mill owners. The movie is a definite watch for all the movie goers who like to watch a classic tell tale story with commercial tinges.

The hues of the mill environs created almost resembles the times of 50 and 60’s when Datta Samant was emerging. It is nostalgic for me in particular since my father too was very active in trade union associated with all the likes George Fernadez, B.D.Jatti, Virandra Patil, etc but in Petroleum field working in Burmah Shell. He had to quit during the strike in 1960 rather than compromise with the management owning responsibility rather than accepting a promotion as foremen as a bribe. He had to move out the fabulous Shell colony residence which is situated in Chembur, I have seen the struggle in the chawls of Kurla having personally experienced it too with Zode and family.

One would at present conviniently, forget the chawl and textile mill life or yore, of Mumbai in the days of Mega Malls and apartments which dot the skyline of central mumbai , kudos to Mahesh Manjrekar in bringing out the stark reality of mill workers struggle. Textile workers dressed up the nation, but they were stripped to the core. City of gold is virtually a tribute to these unhearlded mill workers of Mumbai. It is not only a watch for mumbaites but all citizens of the country. I would rate the movie 5/5 for the passionate depiction of fate of the mill workers of mumbai. I am sure this film will win awards galore.
This movie is a lesson for the IT workers too in a scuttle manner, don t fall prey to unionism, which can destroy the very fabric of employment generating industry. The crass commercialisation of education is beautifully potrayed in Paathshaala. The locale is Saraswathi Vidya Mandir, which is headed by upright principal Aditya Sahay ( Nana Patekar ) who has served with distinction for the past 3 decades. During his tenure the school has prouduced many a distinguished alumni who are CEO, industrialist, businessmen, politicians etc. He is known for his discipline and emphaty to students. The scene where a student pisses in his pants brings out peel of laughter and realty of the campus discipline. Over a period of time the school goes down in ranking in the rat race.

The trustees are now desperate to encash the brand equity of the school. The invite Aditya Sahay and give him an ulitimatum that he should produce substantial profits within a short span of time. Otherwsie the management would prefer upgraduation of the school to provide 5 star type of facility and realise better fees. A comprehensive plan is submitted to the principal. He has to implement it or get out of the way.

Rahul Prakash Udayavar ( Shahid Kapoor ) joins the school as an English teacher with music as a hobby. The principal requests him to teach music too, but he refuses since he is not perfect in the field. Anjali Mathur ( Ayesha Takia ) plays a multiple role of dietician ( nutrition specialist ) warden and music teacher. She convinces Rahul to teach music to students.

When you want to bring major change it is better to despatch key personnel on leave or holiday, which is indication that days are numbered for the principal. This is universal policy i suppose in the corporate world too, it is implemented. In comes the villianious character of Sharma who believes in carrying out the dictates of the trustee to the core. He begins a series of cost escalation measures on various food items, music classes, sports kit, etc which are all aimed at generating more revenue for the school. Including the school fees is hiked substantially. When the parents protest he quotes the supreme court verdict that private schools have the discretion of charging whatever fees they decided. He starts insulting the school teachers and strictly advices them to follow the guidelines of the trustee.

The count down for Nana has begun to exit from the school, the management employ professional mavericks to train students for various competition and extra curricular activities to hype the schools achievement. Will the trustees be successful in their effort. Will the teachers co operate with the management ? A dilemma of sorts plays out in the mind of Anjali whether to quit and go abroad instead of rotting in India, What is the motivation for Rahul to stay back in SVM ? The climax of the movie is rivetting. All the doubts will be answered in the movie.
During my days schools and colleges were not commercial at all the central school fees was Rs 7 pm, Degree was Rs 15 pm and MBA was Rs 25 pm. The question of paying single np donation was not there, nor tution was seen as a good practise. So education was less of a burden for parents and children. The kids were free to play the game of their choice, there was no compulsion. Nor extra curicular activity such as drama or elocution or quiz was compulsory. We used to once a way participate just for the fun of it not for any reward or recognition.

Well for all parents and teacher this film is an eye opener. Teachers should be passionate to mould the students as good citizens of the future. I hope this movie receives tax free status so that it can be watched for the sheer pleasure of understanding the old school of thought.

How is the education institution going to fulfill the rising demands of the teachers salary and perks. Well the key to this will be govt. subsidy and donation by the alumni who pass out from the school. And of course the current trend of parent taking loan in the name of the ward to complete education and later to be repaid by the ward is the way to go. The mellowed down role of Nana Patekar is seen to believed in Paathshala.

I was carried away by the trailer of the film which was full of action.

The movie begins with an action packed diamond heist with Vivek Oberoi pulling off a spectacularly executed action scene. So the opening 10 minutes of the movie is not to be missed for movie buffs. Than one finds out the hero is subject to a research Nano technology chip implant by the villian Sarang. This technology has the potency of erasing the memory from the brain with regard to past events. No wonder Prince lands up in amenesia status.

To help him recollect his past three gals, who are akin to bond gals, but no where near comparison come into his life claiming to be Maya. One after the other he finds that he has been taken for a ride. How he resolves to recoup from the danger of the villianious coup to erase his memory is the jist of the storyline. If this technology which was experimented on Prince succeeds it will prove to be a grave threat to mankind. Will Prince and cops help to salvage the chip which is hidden in an antique coin be recovered ? Will Prince survive the 6 days deadline, which will endanger his memory permanently to crash ?

Action scenes are well picturised in South Africa, Thailand and Manali. But i would say it is tad overdone, because with machine gun reckless firing only one bullet strikes the hero. The new gals in Aruna Shields, Nandana Sen and Neeru singh all play Maya’s role in deception pretty well. Isaiah plays the villanious role of Sarang with aplomb. Sanjay Kapoor too seems to have a revival in the film as police officer in special appearance. Songs are nothing to crave or rave about. The action scenes are well executed. I personally feel the special effects by Tata elexi has added some zing to the movie.
Overall it is just a time pass movie which does not rake one’s brain. One can enjoy their pop corn and just watch the mindless action packed movie. If the movie had some more suspense element it would have hit the box office. So my ranking for the movie is 3/5. Vivek Oberoi rocks in the movie with some sensous kissing scene with some double i suppose. I would recommend the movie is a must watch for Viveks fans.

Here at the same premise a love story blooms between Amit ( Suniel shetty ) and Shalini. They get married thereafter and blessed with a cute boy. He too spends lot of time in the cafe. It is a sort of meeting place for college friends a la heritage Indian coffee house, where young and old spend their time and are comforted by the Dilnaaz when semblence of trouble erupts.
Bell Inc, which is into running modern cafe chain, targets Lucky Cafe ( from 1935 ) as an ideal spot to take over. Amit offers Dilnaz a pricey 40 crore and later hikes it up to 45 crores. I thought they were underpaying, the place must be worth at 80 crores, forget the innumerable memories which are priceless.

Seeda ungli se ghee nahi nikla toh teda ungli se kaam chalo, so the usual bullying tactics begins. Amit warns Dilnaz about the powerful ways of MNC to bull doze people to part with their properties. Here comes our anti hero type of character Nana Patekar ( angry retired south indian character subbu ) How he meets Dilnaz in a departmental store ? How he gets into Lucky cafe ? and how he fights his first case after 37 years free of cost ?

Bell inc discover that Lucky cafe is being run un authorisedly with the death of Zubin Irani by Dilnaz, who had died as a bachelor. There is no document in possession of Dilnaz to prove that the property is hers. The MNC gets the eviction of property order from the court within 30 days ? Well isnt the story gripping. Watch the movie with lots of friends and relatives this movie is worth watching. I was disappointed that i was one among 30 odd people watching such an excellent movie. Officially the movie claims to be interlinkage of three love stories in teenage, middle age and old age.

Lots of wry scuttle humour and satirical dialouge is the hallmark of the movie. U V and me honey milo toh to sahi is good hummable number. The direction, editing, dialouges and story line is the hall mark of the movie. There is a message for the judiciary, defense, citizens, students, MNC, cutting across religious lines. I would rate this movie 5 on 5. It is in the same genre of 3 idiots except with deglamourised actors enacting it in cafe instead of college atmosphere.
Of course it is movie with a good message for me personally it set me thinking how to really save the heritage property of my dad which was built in 1942 ( quit india movement ) in a prime place in Mangalore.

If one were to destory the evil haunted spirit which has been living from the past few generation, than it calls for guts and even death like encounter. How Pashupati, Aman, Kaya and Joshi encounter the spirit and battle it through various chilling scenes is what the Shapit about.
Shaapit movie reminded me of an English movie NUN which i saw recently, with some rip offs naturally from the movie with regarding the special effects on ghost scenes. In terms of horror content one does have quite a chunk considering the 16 reels lengthy movie. The acting of Aditya Naryan, debuntant, son of Udit Naryan is nothing much to rave about, except that his innocent looks gives the feel that he is getting into the skin of the role. Swetha Agarwal, looks glamourous and suits the role she plays as princess. Joshi another new comer looks impressive for a debut. Arjun Dev has done full justice to his role as Professor of paranormal field.

Music even though melodious is nothing much to rave about. The sound track and background score is truely horrifying for the weak hearted. WILL AMAN survive the on slaught of the evil spirit and win back his lady love from the clutch of comatose existence, go and watch the movie to know the ending.

Sting operations in general are supposed to bring out the truth in its realistic form but here Ekta Kapoor’s production tries to potray how it can be misused by the Media or Manipulators for TRPs & financial gains in the form of blackmail. But the plot is complicated with realistic camerawork ( which i believe is because of usage of real spy cameras ) which goes to the edge of being considered as amateurish renedition. Sometimes the shaky camera on the screen gives you a tummy burping feeling that you are paying to watch a sheer nonsenscial movie, but guys that is what Stings are all about without edits and crude and uncontrolled camera angles.

How does one weave 3 different MMS clips into a movie is ultimately the storyline of LSD. The elaboration of LSD in its true form Lysergic acid diethylamide, which is a psychedelic drug used for treating psychiatric and cancer patients for its potent properties. Of course when you come out of the theatre you get this heady feeling that you have consumed the real LSD drug and try to grapple as to what hit you in the end. Once you start interpretation of the movie you come to the conclusion the sordid part of sting operations or MMS clippings.

The director Dibankar has chosen newcomers, who are bold enough to pull off an adult subject with aplomb. Maybe the film would have been better recieved if made with recognised actors is my personal feeling, but who is to bell the cat and get into an akward situation of facing the media. Media is not interested to grill new comers, since it does not fetch any kudos or TRPs, for their channel or enhanced circulation.

In an age of Facebook, Youtube, Wave, Blogspot and Orkut spy cameras and amateur videos shot from an hidden purse, pocket, shades, are the main focus point of the film. How we enjoyed the cyber cafe sex scandals and car sex scandals without paying for the voyeristic episodes. But what is the motivation for guys who pay for such clips and upload it for the world to watch and enjoy without literally paying for it. Is it that they upload only a trialer and expect the public to buy rest of the clipping is an issue which still engages my grey cells. The days of papparazi probing into celebrities life continues, but now the arena has extended into lives of ordinary citizens too. Beware of the peeping toms, LSD is an adult movie with more of adult subject matter than content in terms of raw footage.

Now coming to the movie it is basically weaving of 3 MMS or Sting operations together to form a complete plot. The first story revolves around a young director named Rahul ( Anshuman Jha ) and Shruti ( Shruti) the heroine of his amateur movie for completing his course. How they fall in love and felled in a gruesome sordid way by the girls parents. The sex scene of their honeymoon seems to be totally censored. Don t be disappointed we get to see it in the second episode.

The second sting is related to Adarsh ( Raj Kumar Yadav ) and Rashmi ( Neha Chauhan ) work in a retail outlet. How Adarsh is enticed with payment of 70 k to film his intercourse with the counter salesgal is the crux of the clipping ? Does he do it ? Watch the film for the twist.

Finally the casting couch which is rampant in music album industry is a subject matter which is well dwelt in the sting operation. Here comes the revealation from the director, watch out for the pitfalls of interpretation, a consensual sex can be potrayed as sleaze, and how the media is hungry to elaborate the episode to enhance their TRP’s. Loki (Henry Tangri), music album singer and director pulls of his role with aplomb of a professional. Naina ( Arya Devdutta ) is the model who is involved in casting couch. Now the story takes an interesting turn. Watch the movie if you are interested to know the nitty gritties.

LSD a movie from the Balaji Banner is a bold film, which attempts to wake up the public from stupor, and belief that seeing alone is not believing altogether. If you have to probe, than you should know the inside story, i mean both sides of a coin. A la Nitya ananda episodes in the making according to me. Full marks to Dipankar Banerjee for dwelling on such controversial subject matter of MMS. Thank you sweet desire for the SMS alert, i enjoyed the movie equally so no ? of refunds.
Why does he have to meet the Prez ? is the moot question around which the Plot is weaved. Mandira ( Kajol ) dons the role of a divorced beautician, who falls to the charm of Autistic Khan. Every time he comes to the point without beating around the Bush. ’ Will you marry me " How he meets Kajol ? and how his brother Zakir ( Jimmy Shergill ) engages him to sell a similar looking product like Mehanaz ( which looks to be twisted brand name instead of Shenaz Hussain ). How he goes about peddling the cosmetic brand in a missionary style which brings in peels of laughter and tears in the audience. By now the character of Khan is well sketched.

One should watch the opening sequel for the movie which lays the strong foundation for the movie ? Do not miss it, otherwise you are bound to loose the grip of the movie which can be boring in parts for want of flesh. What i mean is that in sketching the character of Rizvan lot of time and effort has gone into, from childhood to grown up and the pangs of the normal son Zakir, who tends to get ignored by mother. Once he grows up he pushes off abroad to start of his venture in cosmetic industry. His mother dies with a wish that her son Rizvan should grow up to be normal individual and lead a good married life.
So Rizvan’s life takes many a twist and turn..............with the background of 9/11. The jihadi issue is dealt with scuttle mention. Rizvan tells the crowd following Dr Riaz to shed hatred in a mosque. He in fact wants to reveal the information to the FBI reg some sinister plot being hatched.................so and so forth the plot tosses forward. Does Kajol re-unite with Rizvan ? Does Rizvan meet the Prez ? How does Media react on issues concerning Islamic individual ?

The plot of the movie seems to somewhat inspired by Australian arrest episode of Dr Haneef and his subsequent trials, but with a mellowed approach. Nevertheless the statutory declaration that any character or event resembling the movie may be purely coincidental. So the events of 1983 riots, 9/11, Katrina Hurricane, George Bush tour, etc are used weaved effectively into the storyline. Even Barkha Dutt is on the air relaying the breaking news for the movie which is a pleasant surprise.

In conclusion the movie is a must watch to remove one’s pre-conceived notion on terrorism. To a large extent SRK has done justice to the role of Autistic character Rizvan Khan after a gap of one full year. Kajol pulls off her character in usual charismatic manner. Rest of the characters including the Prez in the form of Duncan who closely resembles Obama pull of his scene with great success. The dialouges in the movie is well penned. Hum honge kamyaab ek din rendition in English is the only song worth listening. Overall this movie is a must watch for all liberal minded citizens of the country. The SS controversy has not helped in pulling the crowds, it was only 70% opening. Hope Karan Johar recovers his investment this time around, which he failed in QURBAN. Not every KHAN is a terrorist is amply proved by the Movie ending. Remember this movie released on my Birthday how could i miss it ?Deguidehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11920558699154594412noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8300818286694762448.post-58317955979678866792011-07-19T19:45:00.000-07:002011-07-19T19:51:17.341-07:00Rann, on Media ManipulationThe four pillars of democracy are Legislature, Executive, Judiciary and obviously the Media. The movie plot revolves around Harshvardhan ( Amitabh B ) who owns the India 24x7 NEWS channel. His get up is close to our own P Roy of NDTV, any resemblence is mere fictional and coincidental says the mandatory disclaimer sub titled in the beginning of the movie. The artistic license has been used effectively to potray the story line.
This naturally ensures that Headlines 24 is always ahead in the TRP warfare. The son Jay ( Sudeep ) who wants to boost the channels TRP borrows 30 crore to launch a novel concept with his cronie Rajpal Yadav. This concept too is leaked by Kavitha to their rival for a hefty gain, but it is surprising that there is no intimate scene between the partners in crime, which leads critic to dubb the movie as stag stuff. Even Gul Penags acting powress has been wasted.

Now Sudeep is shattered and is entraped by a shrewd and manipulative politician Mohan Pandey ( Paresh Rawal ) along with his brother in law Naveen ( R Kapoor ), who has an amibition of becoming a leading businessmen or Industrialist through political patronage. Now enters Ritesh Deshmukh into the picture who is an ardent fan of Amitabh and believes in upright and ethical reporting to gain recognition among the audience.

Gul acts as a wife to Ritesh, who did not look so convincing in the initial part of the movie, maybe because he himself being a son of a politician. Later he picks up momentum because of the strong plot weaved by RGV to focus on negative shades of Channel doings.

The plot unravels various twists and turns and shocks the ethical Harshvardhan out of his stupor, now without much ado one should watch the movie for its plot lest i am accused of stealing the thunder on the movie plot. One would say the movie tends to highly critical of the channels and their ways. Maybe this movie is wake call for all the media barons to wake up and live up to their responsibility of preserving the democracy and freedom of expression. The lure of big money is of course there in the share market with public and institution ever ready to support ethical channel. The message is loud and clear in the climax of the movie. Kudos to RGV and his team for producing such a brilliant conceived and executed movie. This movie is definitely for class audience..............will the mass bite it is the moot ? The song Galli galli me shor hai........sare Neta chor hai tells it all
1. Modified rendition of Jana Gana Mana was deleted from the original score, instead Vande Mataram was used in the film due to censorship, on grounds of it violating the National Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act 1950.
3. RGV did not hestitate to cast ex CM s son for the fear of reprisal from Media, here he gave him primacy potraying a honest TV presenter.
In one such scene reminiscent of Sholay train scene, he and his brother Arbaaz along with confidents attack a steam engine train to loot the treasury. The scene is typically shot like Sholay Jai Veeru along with Thakur scene. The SFX is obviously more modern and slick. Here he meets his charming princess Yashodara ( Zarine Khan ) He snatches away her most valuable ornament which is legacy of the queen mother. The consorts of Yashodra beseech Veer to hand over the prized possession of the princess, which he duly obliges in style. A portion of the jewel stays put on his jacket to be handed over in the later part of the film.

The movie takes quiet a twist with Veer and Puniya to be educated under the British reformation program for tribals. The brothers reluctantly land in vintage London. Some comic scenes are exhibited among the crowd by the brothers, and ultimately Salman spots his elusive princess Yashodra in horse carriage. The brother and cousin of the Princess are quite arrogant and upto insulting Veer and his brother. Eventually the story takes a twist with some bloodshed and the storyline begins to take a serious turn.is heart to the princess Yashodara, she in turn being daughter of Madhavgarhs King is in a dilemma to protect her empire from the enemies. Veer being son of the enemy naturally is a descendent of the legacy. The rivalry takes various twists and turns. Ultimately will Veer get to re-unite with his princess is the key to the story. Songs are passe, cinematography is good, dialouges particularly in the class room is quite hair raising. Datelines of historical period seems to be quite offtrack for sake of dramatisation i hope.

The theatre had 50% occupancy. There were some dramatics with some arguement and fights within the theatre which added to excitement of the movie. The young crowd was belligerent and whistling as if they are drawn into the battle whenever Salaman entered the arena for fighting. Inorder to embedd a love story with a unknown face and pull it off is a stupendous effort. Kudos to Anil Sharma director and the producers. More battle scenes would have added to the overall movie watching excitement. was basically drawn to this movie because of Salman participating in an exhibition horse racing in Mumbai which was telecast live in Bangalore Turf Club. This acted as a perfect tonic to perk up the movie promo, which otherwise has been low key. The movie stakes are quite high with 150 crores. I am sure the movie will make profits within two weeks. Kudos to the producers for investing in a historic movie.

Overall Veer is a good epic movie with mercenary background. Love in the background adds as a filler to the movie for its song and dance. The one legged dance performance of Salman is fabulous watch it Insallah.

TITBITS :

1. With so many retakes on horse riding i strong reckon that some actors maybe compelled to wear abdomen guards, like the cricketers to avoid injury. Lol

2. Sword fights between Mithun and Salman caused many a injury on Salman, once he literally fainted another time he got pierced by sword on his back, leading to bleeding and hospitalisation.

3. Salman had a miraclous escape along with the stuntmen Vikram, while standing on the horsebacks to perform the stunt. This is one of the classic stunt wherein his presence of mind saved himself and stuntmen from having a nasty fall.

4. Some of the incidents were narrated in the Dance India Dance show, try to watch the repeat on Zee TV to catch up on the sidelights of the movie which is the costliest Bollywood movie upto dateDeguidehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11920558699154594412noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8300818286694762448.post-34006517890131095812011-07-19T19:29:00.000-07:002011-07-19T19:37:16.567-07:00Chance Pe DanceFailure is the stepping stone to success. Our hero Sameer Behl ( Shahid ) believes that one has to really be focussed to be achieve something in life. A gestation period of 4 years is required to really see all the ups and downs. Does it sound like his own journey to Star Status.

After JAB WE MET and Kaminey this movie is a little bit of let down. A decent romance or kissing scene too is missing. Maybe the storyline was changed as an after thought. It is surprising that a struggling Hero lends almost 18 K to his friend to enjoy with females, giving credence to the casting couch theory.

Sameer does a Lungi advt and one Yogurt advt to begin his career. The Lungi advt is funny, it states in the punch line that circulation of air is guaranteed.........provided there is breeze. He is thrown out of the yoghurt advt. since he was critical of the kid model, who happens to be directors kit and kin. So it is an indirect message to new comers, think before you open your gob. Don t throw tantrums otherwise one will regret liesurely. In one Kannada film a hero was slapped recently by a director and he has taken it in his stride so that his picture sees the light of the day Lol

By chance he comes across the heroine Tina ( Genelia D’Souza ) in a dance class and passes a honest comment on her dancing skill. She happens to be a choreographer, and she takes in her stride, because Sameer’s dancing skill is obviously better than her. One day impressed by his dance, he is offered a role by Monish Behl ( director ) for a dance oriented theme. Sameer is thrilled eventually after nearly 4 years of struggle he has an opportunity to hit the screen as an hero. But chance or bad luck has other things in store for him. He is discarded in favour of choosing a hero through reality show.
Why Director Ken Gosh was not able to present the reality show, with the thrill of SMS voting is a mystery. Whereas the struggle of upcoming actor is depicted well in form of being chucked out by his owner for not paying rent. The hero prefers to stay put in Zen, he even dries his undies on the steering wheel, has his bath in the school bathroom, and washes clothes over there. He even takes up assignment of a dance teacher to earn his livelihood. He is even kicked on his box or abdomen, seems to be cricketer wearing abdomen guard as a protection. The cheeky dialouge how is going to have kids ? seems unwarranted.

But fate and luck has other ways, he is motivated by his girl friend TINA to participate in the reality show for his selection, but he has to give up his participation due to demolition drive by Delhi Muncipality in Saket, how the story takes a twist and turn is to be seen.

The movie is purely built on the dancing skills of Shahid, but there is not much humour, it seems to stark reality that life is a hardcore struggle. The only message seems to be never give up hope, even if you don t have god father in the industry. But if one has to struggle for 4 years will he have the resources to survive in reality is an issue which is convincing addressed i should say. There is nothing unethical or immoral route undertaken by the hero to succeed, that is the essence of the movie.

All bad things in life has to end...............and the hero lives happily ever after. Songs are passable.........luckily i did not snore in the theatre otherwise it would have driven out some of them. Occupancy was hardly 20% for the first day first show.............come on guys and gals enjoy the privacy and watch Chance Pe Dance.Deguidehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11920558699154594412noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8300818286694762448.post-27824090714041441852011-07-19T19:23:00.000-07:002011-07-19T19:28:36.577-07:00Pyaar Impossibe, one sided love storyHats off to YRF banner for producing such a simple love story, which is one sided to begin with, and how the twists and turns leads to realisation by the heroine ultimately. The magic of producing a good movie is all about getting the audience interested in the storyline and lead them to the logical conclusion. Sounds simple but to execute it with a simple dialouge and storyline is quite difficult.

What is more impressive about the movie is that the message passed on to the viewer that original is always original and someone parading or claiming credit for invention by just stealing would ultimately pay his price when asked to prove his authenticity. How the movie goes about proving this point is the simple story of the movie.

Abhay Sharma ( Uday Chopra ) is a geek who is used to finish homework for his friends without any reciprocration. He is in love with Alisha ( Priyanka Chopra ) but is unable his express his love for the fear of rejection. So the one sided story progresses with body language and symbols expressed by Abhay. Alisha in her youthful exhuberance does not notice singnals form Abhay. One day in her drunken stupor walks dangerously on the garden bridge, with a pond surrounding it. She delicately balances on the balustrade and trips into the water for Abhay to rescue her from drowning. When Uday is about to give mouth to mouth rescutiation she wakes up throwing up water on his face. Thus missing an opportunity to kiss Priyanka ? Star power works Lol. She is quickly escorted by her friends back home only to be chided by her father to get back home, which is obviously Mumbai. How the story takes a twist with lingering one sided love story is padding for the movie.
Abay meets Sid ( Dino Morea ) who is a maverick, and wants to buy the software designed to integrate all the operating systems like Windows, Palm, Chrome, Mac, Linux, etc into one platform and call it as Unity with a symbol U. Abhay takes a break from the meeting to consult his dad for giving the original files of the program, his father cautions him not to give the original software to Sid without confirming the deal. In the meanwhile Dino Morea steals the software by downloading it on his pen drive from the Laptop left behind by Abhay. Abhay refuses to give the original software and instead offers Dino an executable CD. Dino obviously does the vanishing act obviously after thanking him stating that software may be still in its infancy. When Abhay goes to another client to sell his software he is informed that a Singapore based company already has a similar software and is planning to launch the same in the market place.

How dad motivates his son to go out and establish his credentials as the original inventor and retrieve his rights over the product is key to the storyline progression. In the bargain how he once again meets his old flame Alisha and proceeds to reclaim his proprietory product is logical conclusion.

Dino Morea has played his role as marketing maverick to finesse. Uday Chopra who backs up as Nanny for Alisha’s daughter is full of humour particularly at the Dinner hosited by her, in the name of Thai tradition. How he prevents Dino Morea to have a Nightcap is quite capracious. Anupam Kher’s acting as Uday chopra’s father is quite fantastic, without much of histornics. Priyanka carries out her role with sensitivity and glamour which is a rare combo.

Go and check out for yourselves, if the movie deserves a flop or a good movie without audience support. If one wants YRF to produce good movies, audience has to see it to appreciate a good team work. Otherwise the motivation to produce good movies may be off, we will be dished out only items numbers and mindless fist fights in the name of action. I would give full marks to the banner for producing a simple love story with message for the geek generation.
What made me to recant was the IIM campus, Chetan Bhagat controversy and sheer young and hep crowd. This movie is seems to be biggest hit of the decade with collections likely to cross above 300 crores. On the hindsight publicity gimmicks of pechan kaun ? type by AMIR was not essential at all, meeting Dada at Kolkatta, dressing as ordinary citizen, etc. Vidhu Chopra’s outburst asking the media to SHUT UP or literally Mouthshut was another downer.

The movie should be watched for the sheer exhuberance of engineering hostel life, and pranks enacted by the three idiots AAMIR, MAHDAVAN & SHARMAN JOSHI. The icing on the cake is taken away by Prof VIRUS Shasarebude played by Boman Irani. College ragging scene is hilarious with pants down pranks on the juniors and how the senior himself is electricuted by his own piss. Whether this stripping scene promotes ragging in college as an accepted part of life as students in professional college is debatable. The curse of ragging was stamped down with Iron fist, now whether we should take it as artistic license for the film producers and treat the entire dramatics as filmy and let go.

Another gory or curse of the pursuit for excellence is committing suicide for failing to meet the expectation of the parents and peers. Suicide is not the real solution to all the problems should have been highlighted which the movie falls short of addressing. And of course dictatorial type of professors accentuate suicidal tendency by putting pressure on deadlines.

Kareena steps into the film at the ideal point surprisingly looking chubby and hep at the same time. Aamir’s film invariably has to have some kissing scene, that is reserved for the end. Lucky guy seems to have kissed both the sisters on one pretext or the other. We don t have the benefit of knowing how many re-takes were ordered for this clumsy kissing scene Lol. Aamir is known for his perfectionist style ordering retakes if he is not satisfied.

The theme of the movie seems to be well executed with the help of Chetan Bhagat’s storyline. The need for education to reinforce innovation rather than mugging to score distinction seems very appropriate message to the youngsters. But how far the parents would agree to this philosophy ? To follow one’s heart and mind in pursuing excellence seems to be theme of the movie. If one loves his trade than one is bound to go out of the way to perfect his skills for the benefit of humanity.

Constant witty arguements with the nutty professor and Rancho raises the laughter quotient to it pinnacle. Surprising Kareena as professors daughter too swings into the hilarious scenes. The first half of the movie is hilarious and gripping and it ends with a suspense.

Balatkar speech, Chutney episode, All IZ well delivery scene helps audience to relax their tension to a great extent. After a long time a genuine comedy based on youngster pranks has been produced and enacted with aplomb. Raju Hirani seems to have mastered comedy direction. If he can direct Munna bhai with Sanjay Dutt, any other actor is bound to perform much better particularly talented one’s like Govinda, Amir, Salman and Shahrukh khan. I am sure Raju Hirani will end up producing a sequel, what better way to start the sequel from the Ladakh ? The location seems to be mind blowing. It is definitely a must see movie for all engineers at least

The plot takes us to an outer spacewhere Pandora is located which is 4 light years away from Earth.

Pandora is inhabited by mutated humanoids called Navi, who survive to grow extra large ( almost 10 feet ) and live in harmony with nature which is almost perfect to be true. They are charged and interveined with their surroundings including the horses, dragon fly, trees and their mother land.

Beneath their mother tree which is designed like a huge baniyan tree, with special effects acts a focal point for living of the tribe known as Navi, and its underbelly is a treasure trove of Unobtainium. This mineral is valued at $2 lakhs per kilo on earth for producing electricity, which is implied of course.

Inorder to exploit the resources from Pandora’s terrain Avataars are created who can survive in the ozone rich territory. Humans cannot survive without O2 in this terrain. They create an Avataar to convince the tribe to vacate their domain so that the humans or people know as Sky walkers can successfully the mine the area.
Since the movie is futuristic the characters designed in Avataar too seems perfect with 12 abs plus physique. Jake ( avataar ) is the hero of the movie who is sent to mingle with the Omaticaya tribe. He is rescued in the first act by Neytri ( daughter of the chieftian ) by ferocious hunting dogs. She falls pity to Jake and his innocense, instead of killing him as intruder rescues him from ferocious dogs. She reveals the ways of life of the tribe and scolds him for being stupid enough to incite and attract the dogs to attack him in darkness.

Both of them are taken by surprise invasion by their tribes and they are captured and presented before the chieftian. The Chieftian wants to confirm that Jake is not an intruder with vested interests. He is baptised of sorts by the Queen who accepts his credential. But the chieftian makes sure that he learns the ways of life to survive in Pandora’s enviorns. He bestows the job of taming the shrew to his daughter Neytri. How they go about learning to-gether and fall in love in a surreal enviorns is basically the plot of the movie.

How the villians Col Miles and his mercenaries destroy the serene atmosphere of Pandora with lethal missiles ? How the Navi tribes regroup under Jake and Neytri’s leadership is part of an interesting story line.
The SFX unleashed in 3D is almost too surreal, but enjoyable. It is a real good movie for an entire family to watch. Do watch it in 3D because the technology perfection is superb. Cinematography is the best part of the movie, which i enjoyed to the core. One has to be prepared to pay double the price wherever one watches in view of the cost involved in production of the movie. The occupancy was 75% which speaks better of the production and promotion for the film. I hope James cameroon recovers his cost of 2000 crores spent on the movie, so that he comes with more brilliant and spectacular movie in this genrie.

The movie is a scuttle message to human being to care for their environs. With the imminent failure of talks or consensus over means to combat global warming at Cophenhagen this movie sends out a strong signal in the form of AVATAAR.

FOR ALL THE MOVIE BUFFS, it is an excellent christmas and new year gift...............a pandora box office hit

TITBITS ; check out the Indian connection in the form of Dileep Rao aka Dr Max Patel, even Joe Saldhana has some connection i suspect.Deguidehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11920558699154594412noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8300818286694762448.post-27588905253651407892011-07-19T04:13:00.000-07:002011-07-19T04:20:58.621-07:00Qurban, in hollywood styleThe movie release has been preponed obviously before the first anniversary of 26/11 but producers are giving an excuse that it may clash with two other big releases DeDana Dhan and Three Idiots. But the storyline of Qurban, obviously elequently elougises the motive of the terrorist.

A difficult subject matter has been well picturised by debutant director Rensil D silva, who has been specialising in advt films. The expertise in creating an impact with 30 secs modules has played a vital part in editing of the movie to make it a crisp thriller. The total movie length is 2.40 minutes and imagine holding the audience attention rivetted to their seats, that too without any song and dance. The stamp of Karan Johar as a movie producer is felt. There is no compromise on the expense incurred in action sequence.

The adult scenes are just far and few unlike the poster depiction nude back of Kareena. The movie is rated adult basically because of the voilence and gory killings rather than nudity. The sex scene is captured well in the camera and does not look vulgar at all. The chemistry of Saif and Kareena is quite obvious and natural. One dialouge which deserves mention is that of Vivek Oberoi who defends the jihadis in a classroom. One american student asks why dont you all Muslims vacate US if you all feel we are unleashing terror. In reply Vivek says yes eventually we will first you all vacate all the Muslim occupied land such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and Saudi.

Picuturisation of the action scenes, even though created through studio and special effects is par excellance. The background score by Sulaiman brothers too is riveting. Ultimately it is the triumph of the good, to protect their women folk and eliminate the evil. How it is executed is the real skill of the directors. I would not like to go into the details and spoil the thrill of viewer experience. Such a brilliantly executed film should be watched for its sheer picturisation rather than read between the lines between the motives of jihadis.

There seems to be some change of climax of the film as an after thought......keeping in view of the sentiments of jihadis. Even ruthless can have a change of heart when it comes to his kith and kin and give up mayhem by blowing oneself. The message is loud and clear don t use your women and children to execute jihad.

The entire audience in the theatre were spell bound by the action, there was no war cry, except for some squeals in the kissing scenes. The movie was not packed, it was only 65% occupancy. At the end of the movie the TV channel crew was waiting for the reaction. I uttered good movie worth watching

The indian connection to the movie is quite a surprise. The opening scene for the movie is shot somewhere in India, presumably the deepest coal mining area in Bihar, according to the actors dialouge. It is here they discover that the earths crust is crumbling and the hero of the picture rushes with the bad news back to washington in 2010 and interrupts a party in progress.

On the sidelight of the movie John Cussack is troubled by his marriage crumbling with a spectre of looming divorce with his Wife, because of his neighbour Gorden. The kids love the company of both father and lover in equal measure which is typical western style of life. The scenario is built up beautifully with American President, ( a distant resemblance of the current incumbent ) goading the scientist to confirm the pending Apolcalypse dateline. Secret preparations are underway to cull out a rescue plan. But will they manage to rescue billions is the moot question.

SFX of the movie is quite brilliant as in Independence day. SFX forms the highlight of the movie throughout the 2 hour 40 minutes movie. The Waves of Tsunami is beautifully picturised, with earthquakes and collapse of multistoried buildings. Some who do not follow the dialouge delivery may find the movie boring in parts.

Critics of the movie have written it off as repitition of disaster genre movie. But to direct an Apocalyse event needs special skill which has been mastered by Ronald Emerick. The movie in general transcends the language barrier. The hoots and applause inside the theatre really tells the tale of a brilliantly conceived plot. The background music is quite apt for the screening.

How the good triumphs over the evil and selfish intention seems to be morale of the movie. Thus it signifies the end of the days with a new beginning. However the scenario depicted in the movie, the mayhem etc may be in the realm of ficition. The yellowstone phenomenon of Supervolcanoes does seem far fetched even though well picturised.

My take on the subject matter is slightly different, if the Sun were to collapse generating immense heat, it will turn everything around into ashes within seconds, the water from the earth might get evaporated too within minutes instead of Tsunami, there will be a dry bed of land instead of sea. Mankind may be able to survive underground. So this alternative might be more realistic than the directors conception. However we should be thankful that the Kaliyug is ending. Go watch the movie and pray that the end does not come on 21 12 2012 instead on 21 12 2112.

I am happy to give a rating of 4 star for the movie, which seems to be last disaster movie of the director as per news reports.

Highlights :

1. Hero emerging from the earthquake at the nick of the movement.
